Volunteer Survivor Advocate Program
Our volunteer advocates are trained, compassionate individuals dedicated to providing support to sexual assault and domestic violence survivors in the emergency room. We are interviewing prospective advocates on an ongoing basis.
What is a survivor advocate’s role?
When survivors seek post-trauma medical attention in our local emergency room, they rely on volunteer advocates who are trained to provide crisis counseling, emotional support, and advocacy.
Is training provided?
Yes! All volunteer advocates are required to attend a comprehensive 40-hour volunteer advocate training, and we ask volunteers to make a one-year commitment to the program.
You must be at least 18-years-old and able to reach Woodhull Hospital in 20 minutes by car (we’ll reimburse you!). To enroll, email firstname.lastname@example.org or you can fill out our volunteer form below. Please note that all forms filled out on our Volunteer Page should be forwarded to our email@example.com.
