Legal Services
North Brooklyn Coalition Against Family Violence provides direct representation, advice and consultation, and limited advocacy services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in cases pending in Kings County courts. Our legal practice strives to be both holistic and trauma-informed, allowing survivors to determine their own course of action and reaffirm their autonomy that may have been lost due to the dynamics of domestic violence. We serve survivors in the North Brooklyn geographical area and beyond, and are dedicated to providing competent and cohesive services to low-income and underemployed survivors in the below types of cases.

Capacity Building Through Community Partnerships
One of North Brooklyn Coalition’s primary tools for providing holistic direct legal representation to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault is our collaboration with partners who also engage in providing legal services.
To that end, the Coalition has partnered with the Domestic Violence Project at the Urban Justice Center to increase our impacts and take on more immigration cases, assist with more complex immigration matters, and immerse our staff and our community in training to help navigate an ever-changing and precarious immigration system. With these resources and tools in place, NBCAFV is able to more comprehensively assist survivors in obtaining and securing immigration status and improve access to housing and other assistance.

These training videos (offered in Spanish & English) can help survivors, community members, advocates and bystanders gain knowledge and skills to support Survivors in navigating laws and exercising rights.
