Sexual Assault Intervention Advocates (SAI Advocates)At the North Brooklyn Coalition, our Sexual Assault Intervention Advocates (SAI Advocates) are dedicated volunteers from diverse backgrounds who provide essential support to survivors of sexual and domestic violence at NYCHH Woodhull Hospital.

Training and Qualifications
SAI Advocates undergo a comprehensive 40-hour training program certified by New York State. This training covers vital topics such as Safe Exams, Minor Rights, and PREA. Advocates provide essential emotional support, information about available services, and Survivor's Bill of rights.
To join our team, advocates must meet the following qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be able to reach Woodhull Hospital within 20 minutes by car (car fare reimbursement available)
- Commit to 4 six-hour shifts or 2 twelve-hour shifts per month
- Commit to being an advocate for 12 months
- Successfully complete the 40-hour NYS Rape Crisis Advocate Training, along with Woodhull's medical, drug, and background checks
- Understand that this is an unpaid volunteer program
